For Jay Mark G. Cortado, DMMMSU-CAFF Dean, was among the participants in the 2nd Philippines-France Joint Committee Meeting (JCM-2) on Science and Technology (S&T) and a Scientific Visit in Paris, France.
From December 8-14, 2024, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), in partnership with the Embassy of France to the Philippines and Micronesia, hosted the event aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI).
Led by DOST Secretary Renato U. Solidum Jr. and his French counterpart, the meeting focused on updates to ongoing collaborative programs, including the PhilFrance Scholarship and the PHC-SFTP Researchers Mobility Program.
The delegates visited several prestigious French institutions such as the Research and Development Institute (IRD), Sciences Po, Université Paris-Saclay, Institut Pasteur, the National Museum of Natural History, France Universités, and Campus France. These visits served to deepen institutional ties and explore new avenues for research and academic exchange.
In addition to advancing scientific collaboration, the initiative raised the Philippines’ global profile in STI, reinforced bilateral relations with France, and contributed to the achievement of national development goals through knowledge-driven progress.
