Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) has made significant strides in sustainability, securing a global ranking of 1071 among 1,477 universities from 95 countries in the 2024 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings. Within the Philippines, DMMMSU ranked 48th out of 63 participating institutions.

Initiated by Universitas Indonesia in 2010, the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings assess universities’ sustainability policies and programs worldwide. Institutions are evaluated across six key categories: Setting and Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Change, Waste, Water, Transportation, and Education and Research.

By participating in UIGM, DMMMSU demonstrates its commitment to addressing global sustainability challenges. This is the university’s inaugural year in the rankings, and it is committed to further enhance its sustainability efforts through innovative policies and programs.

President Jaime I. Manuel, Jr. expressed his joy in a short interview. “Participating in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings has been a valuable experience. It has allowed us to benchmark our sustainability efforts against top institutions worldwide and identify areas for improvement. We are excited to continue our journey towards a more sustainable campus and community,” he said.
