DMMMSU spearheaded the conduct of the 1st Regional SUCTEA Convergence 2024, which took place on November 29, 2024, at the CE Multi-Purpose Hall of DMMMSU-MLUC. This is anchored in the theme “Bridging Borders: Cultivating Global Perspectives in Higher Education.”

Dr. Cedric Anthony E. Ochoco, Chairperson of SUCTEA I, delivered a message of inspiration on behalf of DMMMSU President Dr. Jaime I. Manuel Jr..  A tribute to the founder of SUCTEA followed, which was led by the SUCTEA Region 1 Executive Committee. Dr. Necy Cesaria V. Romo, SUCTEA I Vice President, articulated the event’s purpose, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and innovation in higher education.

The keynote address was delivered online by CHED Region 1 Director Dr. Christine N. Ferrer, who highlighted the role of higher education institutions in fostering global perspectives.

Three lectures underscored the event:

  • Prof. Jeanette G. Dials, Chief of International Faculty and Students Mobility at MMSU, presented “Fostering Global Competence and Academic Excellence: MMSU’s Internationalization Initiative.”
  • Dr. Jomar L. Aban, DMMMSU’s Research and Extension Publication Office’s Director, discussed “Strategies for Scopus and WoS-Indexed Publication and Institutional Journal Digitalization and Indexing.”
  • Dr. Juan Primitivo P. Petrola, Director of the Presidential Management and Liaison Office at Pangasinan State University, delved on “A Foresight of Teacher Education Quality and the Future of Basic Education in the Philippines.”

An open forum allowed participants to engage with speakers and facilitators. (By RMV)
