Dr. Jomar L. Aban, Director for Publication, brought home the Best Paper Award from the 6th Asian Virtual Conference on Institutional and Action Research 2024. The event, held from November 28-30, 2024, featured participation from over 30 academic institutions across Asia.

Dr. Aban, along with his co-authors, presented the paper “Students’ Financial, Environmental, Mental, and Physical Challenges and their Predictors: A Public Higher Education Case in a Third-World Nation,” which captivated the judges with its fresh perspectives on addressing critical student challenges. The study explored the most pressing issues faced by students and provided actionable solutions for higher education institutions (HEIs) to alleviate pressures in a post-pandemic educational landscape.

The conference, hosted by the Asian Society of Teachers for Research, Inc. (ASTR), emphasized this year’s theme, “Empowering Education, Fostering Resilience: Pioneering Action and Institutional Research for Sustainable Futures.” Dr. Aban’s research stood out for its innovative approach and alignment with the theme, highlighting resilience and adaptability in education.
