The College of Information Systems (CIS) of DMMMSU recently conducted a Business Forum centered on its extension project – the Multi-purpose Cooperative and Retail Store Management System. The seminar-workshop, held on October 11, 2024, at the AVR of JICA Building in DMMMSU-NLUC Sapilang, Bacnotan, La Union, served as a platform for technology transfer, particularly focusing on introducing this innovative management system to local businesses.
The event brought together small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs from various municipalities of La Union and aimed to bridge the gap between traditional business operations and modern technological solutions.
The program featured a presentation of the Multi-Purpose Cooperative and Retail Store Management System, which is part of an ongoing project by the CIS. Ms. Krizia Ann E. Ramirez explained the system, and Mr. Jessie B. Vallecera followed with a technical discussion. This management system helps Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by making tasks such as inventory management, customer management, and purchasing easier and more efficient. To kick off the session, Dr. Excel V. Cabrera presented the “Roles of Digital Technology for Businesses,” highlighting how important digital payments and online platforms are for today’s businesses.
In support of the system’s implementation, the afternoon session featured Mr. Ronald Rommel Viloria, an accomplished industrial designer and GoNegosyo mentor, who shared his expertise on product branding and awareness. His session complemented the technical aspects of the program by providing insights into how businesses can maximize their digital presence and create compelling brand identities. As MSMEs face increasing challenges in today’s digital economy, the Multi-purpose Cooperative and Retail Store Management System underscores the University’s dedication to providing practical, innovative solutions that empower local entrepreneurs and drive economic progress in the region.
