DMMMSU showcased its commitment to community development through a technology transfer seminar-workshop held at the ICC-Hall B of DMMMSU-NLUC on October 14, 2024. It was conducted in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Bacnotan and brought together local business owners, MSME managers, and aspiring entrepreneurs.
The seminar-workshop centered on introducing the Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MPC) and Retail Store Management System, a technological solution developed by DMMMSU College of Information Systems (CIS) faculty members to address the growing needs of local businesses.
The faculty members from CIS led the discussions on the role of digital technology in modern business operations. The presentations covered essential topics, including digital payment systems, strategies for establishing an online presence, and a detailed demonstration of the MPC Management System. The event was further enhanced by GCash’s participation, highlighting the practical application of digital payment solutions.
The afternoon session expanded beyond technology to cover business operations aspects. Representatives from LGU Bacnotan – Mr. Sonny Jim Noveloso, Mr. Ben Donglayan, and Ms. Francia Gonzales – along with Mr. Nathaniel Pineda II from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), shared invaluable insights on business permit applications, labor law compliance, workplace safety standards, and commercial area regulations. This successful collaboration between DMMMSU, LGU Bacnotan, and industry partners exemplifies an integrated approach to fostering local economic development through the practical application of technological innovations.
