DMMMSU Open University System (DOUS), under the Extension Service Project Tanglaw Rehabilitation Program for the Department of Justice Parole and Probation Administration parolees and probationers, organized the “Training 7 on Wellness Cluster” titled, “S.A.K.I.T. Sakit, An-annayen, Kalaban iti Tawen – Restoring Balance: The Power of Meditation and Acudetox for Wellness” for30 participants at the DOUS Digital Classroom 2 on September 27, 2024.

The training focused on promoting health and well-being through meditation and acudetox, emphasizing alternative healing practices.

Led by Prof. Claudia Denise P. Barbadillo, Head of Extension, the event was supported by key DOUS staff members, including Atty. Jonald F. Carrera (Legal Officer and Administrative Officer), Dr. Luzviminda F. Salamanca (Head of Instruction), and Dr. Brillo S. Paje (Head of Auxiliary). Staff from various offices; Ms. Remedios Custodio (Finance), Mr. Ronan Floresca (Supply), Ms Jo Ann Ducusin (Human Resources), Ms. Fena Austria (Library), and Mr. Reuel Adrian Almadrigo (Management Information Systems) ensured the smooth facilitation of the event.

Wellness experts from the Science of Identity Foundation (SIFCARE) led the sessions. Ms. Dixie Ann A. Palmos, a DOH-certified acupuncturist, along with acupuncturists Ms. Nimai Dasi C. Tamayo and Sr. Antonio Nrsnga N. Tamayo, demonstrated the benefits of acupuncture and guided the participants through meditation techniques aimed at restoring balance and promoting wellness.

This training underscores DOUS’s commitment to community outreach and rehabilitation efforts, providing participants with valuable tools to improve their well-being through alternative healing methods.
