Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU)-Open University System (DOUS) welcomed the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) officials led by Dr. Reynaldo P. Ramos, TUP President, for a benchmarking activity at the DOUS Conference Room on September 26, 2024.
The event aimed to strengthen institutional collaboration and exchange innovative practices between DMMMSU and TUP, setting the stage for future joint initiatives focused on advancing the quality of education for lifelong learners.
The program opened with a message from DOUS Executive Director, Dr. Bernardo D. Lamadrid, delivered by Atty. Jonald F. Carrera, the DOUS Administrative and Legal Officer. The message emphasized the importance of cultivating partnerships and innovation in education to enhance learning experiences and academic outcomes.
The benchmarking showcased the university’s history, programs, and services, emphasizing its advanced approaches to distance education, and highlighting DOUS’s evolution as a leader in accessible education. TUP also introduced its services, contributing to the exchange of knowledge and experiences.
One of the key moments during the visit was the tour of the DOUS facilities. The delegation expressed their admiration for the Edu-media Hub, particularly its CHED-funded studios which played a pivotal role in the creation of the Kapihan Sa DMMMSU talk show. Launched during the COVID-19 pandemic, Kapihan sa DMMMSU produces episodes addressing social issues and government programs, providing vital services to students, faculty, and the broader community during challenging times.
In her closing remarks, Dr. Luzviminda F. Salamanca, Head for Instruction, thanked the TUP officials for their visit and reiterated DOUS’s commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in education, aligning with TUP’s goals. (by Claudia Denise Barbadillo)
