Dr. Loida M. Faller, Director of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) attended the NSTP Enhancement Training for Educators and Implementers at the Manila Grand Opera Hotel, Sta. Cruz, Manila, on September 25-27, 2024.

Dr. Faller was joined by NSTP Heads from various campuses —  Ms. Jhonalyn B. Lardizabal from North La Union Campus, Prof. Jojie Ann F. Regacho from South La Union Campus, Dr. Geoffrey Badua from the Open University System (OUS), and Prof. Claudia Denise P. Barbadillo, Head of OUS Extension.

The event was anchored in the theme, “The Future of NSTP in Molding the Youth for a Stronger Nation. The Philippine Society of NSTP Educators and Implementers (PSNEI), in collaboration with the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP), organized this event. The training was a collective effort, focusing on future-proofing NSTP by introducing participants to the concept of futures thinking, encouraging a forward-looking approach to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while addressing critical issues such as social, economic, environmental, and governance challenges in modern education.

The team presented an NSTP Action Plan aimed at improving program implementation at the university. The plan highlighted critical areas, including the integration of futures thinking strategies, national security initiatives, and education on peace-building, climate change adaptation, and disaster risk reduction within the NSTP curriculum.

The training concluded with a renewed commitment among NSTP educators and implementers to strengthen their programs, ensuring that the youth are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to face the challenges of the 21st century. (by Prof. Claudia Denise P. Barbadillo)
