Under the extension project “Inarching Technology Promotion for Rambutan,” the College of Agroforestry and Forestry (CAFF) trained farmers from Sablan, Benguet, and Cervantes, Ilocos Sur on rambutan inarching technology, farming management, and practices. The primary objective of the training was to extend the technology developed by the university to farmers, enabling them to establish and maintain their rambutan farms and introducing a potential source of income.

The training, held on September 27, 2024, at DMMMSU-North La Union Campus, covered topics such as rambutan mother tree identification, rootstock selection, the inarching process, outplanting activities, care, maintenance, and monitoring activities, and yield evaluation. Farmers also gained hands-on experience in the inarching process during their visit to the university’s rambutan plantation. Each farmer was also provided by the university with rambutan seedlings and a toolkit for inarching.
