In celebration of the 57th Founding Anniversary of ASEAN, with the theme “ASEAN: Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience,” DMMMSU representatives took part in the Timpuyog: 2024 ASEAN Conference for Region 1 Higher Education Institutions at the Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation on September 5, 2024. The event was organized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region 1.
DMMMSU partnered with Universidad de Dagupan (UdD), Union Christian College (UCC), Saint Benedict College of Northern Luzon Inc. (SBNL), and San Carlos Colleges (SCC) to create a vibrant and culturally rich booth inspired by the rich traditions of Cambodia. As part of the immersive experience, a selection of traditional Cambodian delicacies was served, allowing guests to savor the rich flavors and culinary artistry that Cambodia is known for.
During the conference, DMMMSU’s Director for International Affairs also shared the University’s best practices in the University’s successful bid for WURI in 2023 and 2024—with the topic, “Don’t Worry about WURI: Reconstructing HE’s Creative Contributions for Societal Advancement”. Dr. Jarata also provided insights and strategies on how other colleges and universities in Region 1 can strengthen their internationalization efforts and enhance their competitiveness in global university rankings.
The conference featured various sessions including the Philippine Higher Education Internationalization Roadmap, keynote addresses, and discussions on enhancing regional connectivity and innovation in education. Notable speakers included Dr. Roger Chao, Jr. from the ASEAN Secretariat and Atty. Lily Frieda Milla from CHED-IAS, alongside industry partners.
