In a decisive victory, Mr. John Frederick C. Javier of the South La Union Campus (SLUC) was elected President of the University Student Council (USC) for the Academic Year 2024-2025 during the USC election held at DMMMSU-NLUC Administration Building, Sapilang, Bacnotan, La Union on August 30, 2024.
The event was attended by newly elected Campus Student Body Organization (CSBO) Officers, CSBO Advisers, and Student Affairs Services (SAS) Heads from all four DMMMSU campuses: North La Union Campus (NLUC), Mid La Union Campus (MLUC), South La Union Campus (SLUC), and the Open University System (OUS).
Prior to the election, candidates were asked to share their perspectives on various university issues and their proposed solutions. They were also asked to provide their stances on significant local and national issues, offering insights into their leadership styles and priorities.
Mr. Javier triumphed in a competitive presidential race against Mr. Joseph T. Padil Jr. of OUS, securing 24 out of 32 votes. Mr. Jay Louise L. Carosa of MLUC, running unopposed, was elected Vice President, while Mr. Jorge Daniel S. Malapit of MLUC won as the Ethical Standards Officer against Mr. Juhn Eric T. Pablo of NLUC with 20 out of 32 votes. Prof. Melody P. Tumanan, the CSBO Adviser of SLUC, was appointed as the new USC Adviser.

- Ethical Standards Officer: Jorge Daniel S. Malapit, MLUC
- Newly Appointed Executive Secretary: Napoleon Christopher L. Delos Santos, SLUC
Additionally, the following individuals were appointed as Cabinet Secretaries:
- Budget and Finance: Jay Louise L. Carosa, MLUC
- Student Affairs and Services: Erwin C. Agustin, NLUC
- Student Information: John Railey F. Apilado, SLUC
- Sports and Youth Development: Juhn Eric T. Pablo, NLUC
- Environmental Affairs: Myla C. Servito, SLUC
- Ways and Means: Joseph T. Padil Jr., OUS
- Health and Wellness: Sofia Zoe V. Delfin, SLUC
- Gender and Development: Kelvin G. Cariño, MLUC
- Linkages: Janno P. Flora, MLUC
After his inspirational message, Dr. Jaime I. Manuel Jr., University President, inducted the newly elected USC Officers and appointed Cabinet Secretaries. The event concluded with the ceremonial passing of responsibility to the new USC President. Mr. James Anthony T. Ocasion, the outgoing USC President, delivered an emotional farewell address, marking the conclusion of his term and the commencement of a new leadership era at DMMMSU. (By Jerick Bongolan)
