Faculty members from the College of Education at DMMMSU-MLUC presented their project output on the city’s Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) program during the City Council for the Protection of Children (CCPC) quarter meeting at the Peoples’ Hall, City of San Fernando, La Union, on July 12, 2024.
The project, titled “Assessment of the Early Childhood Care and Development Program of the City of San Fernando, La Union: A Basis for a Development Plan”, led by Prof. Daniel P. Ong Jr., includes four studies focusing on the different aspects of the city’s ECCD.
The research team showcased the following studies: “Evaluative Analysis on Children under the Early Childhood Care and Development Program: Input for an ECCD Development Program” led by Dr. Oscar A. Ancheta Jr., with Dr. Sharlene Gay V. Fabrigas as a member; “Pedagogical Competence of Daycare Workers/Teachers, Curriculum, Guidance and Interactions and Physical Environment Compliance: Input for ECCD Plan”, led by Dr. Estella A. Cayabyab, with Prof. Lailanie B. Soriano, Sheryll M. Valmores, and Prof. Mary Leigh Anne C. Perez of Philippine Normal University (PNU) as members; “Appreciative Inquiry on the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Projects of the Cooperating Agencies in the City of San Fernando, La Union: A Basis for an ECCD Development Plan” by Prof. Daniel P. Ong Jr. as study leader with Prof. Reland R. Badua, and Dr. Cedric Anthony E. Ochoco as members; and “Primary Caregivers’ Involvement in the Early Childhood Care and Development Program of DSWD in the City of San Fernando, La Union”, a study led by Prof. Jenie V. Quiaioit with Dr. Maricel V. Pajimola as member.
DMMMSU representatives, Prof. Kenneth G. Bayani and Prof. Marylen D. Rodriguez attended the meeting together with various stakeholders from the City Social Welfare and Development Office, City Council Members, Child Development Teachers and Workers. Representatives from the Philippine National Police, City Health Office, Department of Education, Private School Sector, and children were also present.
The presentation marked the culmination of the two-year research collaboration between the City Government of San Fernando, La Union, and Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – Mid La Union Campus, initiated on July 15, 2022.
