Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) hosted a benchmarking activity for the delegates of the University of Rizal System (URS) on July 23, 2024. The URS team, led by Dr. Marites M. Rio, VP for Research Development, Extension, and Production, looked into commendable and best practices of DMMMSU in research, extension, and production.
The delegates paid a courtesy call to the University President at the Central Administration Complex. During the presentations, which were held at the Conference Hall of the National Apiculture Research and Development Institute, Dr. Angelina T. Gonzales, Vice President for Research, Development, and Innovation, further welcomed them.
Prof. Keneth G. Bayani, Director for Research, tackled the rigors and quality standards of DMMMSU in conducting research, highlighting the support of the unit in setting directions and aligning with the University’s research agendas. Subsequently, Prof. Victoria N. Malaya, Director for Innovation and Technology Commercialization, featured the DMMMSU – Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubator (DMMMSU-ATBI), boasted as the Regional Leader in Region 1 in TBI operations. Dr. Jomar L. Aban, Director for Research and Extension Publications and IEC Materials Development, provided the delegates with practices and workflow that guarantee optimal reach and citations of published research. Completing the round, Prof. Emerita D. Galiste, Director for Extension, highlighted the embodiment of DMMMSU’s research agendas through its extension services. She presented the number of active partnerships with LGUs, industries, NGOs, NGAs, SMEs, and other stakeholders together with a satisfaction rating of 100% on all extension programs undertaken.
Dr. Gonzales also shared insights regarding University policies and remuneration for such scholarly endeavors.
Dr. Rio was joined by Dr. Niclie L. Tiratira, Director of Research Development; Dr. Fe Esperanza T. Mateo, Director of Extension; Prof. Yolanda D. Vistal, Director of Production; Dr. Leo C. Rio, Director of Intellectual Property Office (IPO), among other URS staff in eliciting responses to the challenges foreseen by URS.
In response, Dr. Rio shared key takeaways from the presentations and expressed deep intentions of forging strengthened connections with the University.
“We took forward after this meeting the University of Rizal System will be able to marry Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University in many advocacies and initiatives that we believe are your best practices,” she added.
After the meaningful exchange, the delegates toured the DMMMSU – Sericulture Research and Development Institute (SRDI) to gain practical insights into production.
The Strategic Communications Office, led by Dr. Maricon C. Viduya, facilitated the benchmarking activity.
