Don Mariano Marcos State University (DMMMSU), through the Sericulture Research and Development Institute (SRDI), inked a partnership with Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) on June 6, 2024, for the implementation of the project entitled “Sericulture: An Alternative Source of Income to Enhance the Livelihood of Men and Women Farmers of the Province of Tarlac.”
This project strengthens the commitment of DMMMSU and TAU towards optimizing the contribution of the community to livelihood development programs leading to economic productivity. Development of industry-based skills through university-government-community partnerships will mainly focus on technologies and knowledge transfer and exchange to greater social good as it focuses on strengths of communities which can be achieved by strengthening the local policies, structures and actors.
Representatives from Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) included Dr. Agnes C. Perey, Dean of the College of Agriculture and Forestry ( who represented TAU President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson), For. Mileatte P. Omaney, Chair of the Forestry Department, and faculty members Maidas L. Anson and Christian D. Robillos from TAU-Camiling.
DMMMSU was represented by President Dr. Jaime I. Manuel, Jr., Dr. Cristeta F. Gapuz, Executive Director of the Sustainable Resource Development Institute (SRDI), and Ms. Janet D. Manuel, Officer-in-Charge of the SRDI Training and Technical Services Division. With the motto, “Building Skill, Creating Opportunities,” DMMMSU and TAU are committed to facilitating the community extension services and Gender Development Mainstreaming needed in the aforementioned community and also by the community residents in general./JPAngayen
