The Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English second-year students donated a collection of children’s reading materials written in Ilokano on May 24, 2024, to DMMMSU-SLUC Main Library. The activity was spearheaded by their subject teacher, Sir Renz E. Ferrera, as part of their coursework for the subject “EDUC 108: Technology in Teaching and Learning.”
The donated collection comprises seven original stories, creatively composed and written by the students themselves. These stories, rich in cultural and linguistic heritage, aim to engage young readers and foster a love for reading in their native language. The titles of the stories include:

These stories educate children about various values and aspects of life, all while playing a crucial role in preserving the Iloko language. As the reading materials find their place on the library shelves, they stand as a beacon of hope and inspiration for many young readers, encouraging them to explore the world of literature and embrace the beauty of one of our native languages, Iloko.
