Sto. Tomas, La Union – 89 faculty members and 17 non-teaching staff took their oath of office in a ceremony administered by DMMMSU President Jaime I. Manuel, Jr at the College of Fisheries Conference Hall last May 13, 2024.

In an opening message, Dr. Joanne C. Rivera, SLUC Chancellor, stressed the importance of recognizing the hard work and dedication of the university’s faculty and staff, emphasizing that their efforts in pursuing excellence were well acknowledged. “Your dedication, hardwork, and commitment to excellence have not gone unnoticed,” she added.

Following the Chancellor’s remarks, Dr. Jaime I. Manuel, Jr., the University President, delivered his inspirational message. He expressed his satisfaction with the administration’s efforts to advance employee promotions and reclassifications, applauding DMMMSU’s leadership in the region. “DMMMSU was the first in Region 1 to have fully implemented JC 3 and reclassification of faculty members below professorial level,” he proudly stated.

President Manuel continued by highlighting the critical role of faculty development in becoming a globally competitive university. He noted the importance of faculty members pushing beyond traditional limits to achieve higher levels of professorship, which he argued not only signifies the quality of the institution but also enhances its capabilities across teaching, research, extension, and production. “The more professors an academic institution has, the better it is,” he added.

This is the third group of DMMMSU employees who have been promoted and reclassified in the University. The first batch took their oath on May 7, 2024 in the North La Union Campus while the Mid La Union Campus employees took their oath last May 9, 2024. The recruitment, selection and placement process for the non-teaching staff  is pursuant to the Revised Organization and Staffing Standards (ROSS) authorized under National Budget Circular No. 589 while the reclassification of the faculty members was conducted by  the university under the Commission on Higher Education – Department of Budget and Management (CHED-DBM) Joint Circular 3 s. 2022.
