DMMMSU, through the College of Agroforestry and Forestry (NLUC), inked a specific activity agreement (SAA) with UPLB, through the Institute of Renewable Natural Resources, College of Forestry and Natural Resources, for the implementation of a DOST-PCAARRD supported project Enhancing the Integration of the R2R/WEM into the Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plan (PDPFP).

This project aims to develop the capability of the provincial and municipal planning officers of La Union and other provinces sharing the same watersheds with La Union in using the Ridge-to-Reef or Watershed Ecosystem Management (R2R/WEM) approach for land use and development.

UPLB will mentor the technical experts of DMMMSU on R2R/WEM approach to land use and development planning through a partnership of DHSUD, DILG, DOST-PCAARRD, and WILUP. DMMMSU, on the other hand, will provide a suitable environment for the conduct of the fieldwork for the Flora and Fauna Assessment needed for the project and provide technical support such as secondary data, maps, and other materials in the conduct of the training for the capacity building activity series.

For. Jay Mark G. Cortado, Dean of the College of Agroforestry and Forestry, serves as the focal person of the collaboration in the implementation of the activities. (By Ayu)
