The student-athletes from Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) showcased their exceptional skills at the recently concluded Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA) competition, which took place in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte from April 21 to 27, 2024.

Reau Shareese E. Sabug, a Grade 9 student, clinched the bronze medal in the Combat Taekwondo Secondary Girls Category 4 (46-49 kg) event. Helmich Marilag, a Grade 11 student, also brought home a bronze medal in the Rapid Chess Secondary Boys category. He was coached by Mr. Joseph Fabro.

A standout performance was delivered by Joeffrey Fiam R. Arellano, a Grade 6 learner, who qualified for the Palarong Pambansa. Arellano secured a silver medal in the 50LC Meter breaststroke (Individual) and the 100M ID Breaststroke (Individual) events. He also contributed to the gold medal-winning performances of the 400 LC Meter Medley (Group) and the 400M freestyle relay (Group). Arellano was coached by Ms. Lindsey Subala.
