Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) named five (5) new full-fledged professors who successfully underwent Professorial Accreditation for their position reclassification under Department of Budget (DBM)-Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Joint Circular No. 3, s. 2022 (JC 3).
Dr. Jomar L. Aban, Director for Director, R & E Publications and IEC Materials Development, and Dr. Joel C. Estacio, Chairman of DMMMSU Research Ethics Committee, both previously Associate Professor III, were reclassified to Professor III.
On ther other hand, Dr. Alvin R. Malicdem, Dean of the College of Information Technology, and Dr. Jefferson D. Isidro, Chairperson of the Master of Arts in Mathematics Education Program at the South La Union Campus (SLUC), moved from Associate Professor IV to Professor III.
Dr. Fatima R. Macadaeg jumped from Associate Professor I to Professor I.
DMMMSU also acknowledged 251 faculty members who received reclassification based on their performance evaluations under JC 3 — 80 from the North La Union Campus (NLUC), 78 from the Mid La Union Campus (MLUC), 87 from the South La Union Campus (SLUC), and 6 from the Open University System (OUS).
The appointments of the new professors and reclassified faculty members were approved by the Board of Regents on March 14, 2024, and December 20, 2023, respectively.
This marks the first implementation of JC 3, which sets the guidelines for reclassifying faculty positions in State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) across the Philippines. The JC outlines the rules and regulations for the accreditation process, and ensures a standardized approach to faculty promotion within SUCs. (by John Mark G. Lachica)
