DOUS conducted a comprehensive Training on Records Management to help streamline administrative processes and uphold transparency for government and private agencies at the Multi-purpose Hall of DOUS on March 7-8, 2024. The event, which drew participation from organizations including the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), Local Government Units (LGUs), Department of Education Basic Education schools, and Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs), highlighted the importance of efficient records management practices in fostering organizational efficiency and accountability.
Dr. Romeo C. Opena Jr., Training Chief of DOUS Continuing Professional Education, emphasized the significance of the training. He underscored the critical role that effective records management plays in promoting good governance and facilitating informed decision-making within organizations.
Atty. Jonald F. Carrera, Administrative Officer of DOUS, in his welcome address, emphasized the shared responsibility in safeguarding and managing records to uphold public trust and ensure the integrity of institutional operations. He also cited the importance of understanding Republic Act 10173, also known as the Data Privacy Act of 2012.
Mr. Buenaventura T. Caluscosin II, Head of Planning and Development, elucidated the purpose and objectives of the training, emphasizing the need for standardized records management protocols to optimize organizational efficiency and mitigate risks associated with data mismanagement.
Two learning service providers from DMMMSU Mid-La Union Campus shared their expertise. Mr. Arturo C. Flores discussed Administrative Office Procedures and Management and the National Archives of the Philippines Act, while Dr. Genevieve C. Cadaoas lectured on Good Housekeeping in the Workplace and Records Digitization.
The participants gained insights on innovative approaches and strategies for enhancing records management systems within their organizations through the provided workshops.
