The DMMMSU-Sericulture Research and Development Institute (SRDI) joined the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Region I (TESDA) in staging the “Lingap Serbisyo Caravan” at the covered court, La Union Convention Center, Sevilla, San Fernando City La Union on February 6, 2024.
Committed to community empowerment and skills enhancement, SRDI as a Technical Vocational Institution (TVI), participated in the caravan as part of the LAB FOR ALL project of First Lady Louise Araneta Marcos.
Several activity demonstrations were presented during the event, such as silk weaving, novelty production from cut cocoons, bamboo weaving, wood carving, solar-powered aquaponics and hydroponics, rice production, baking and cake decoration, Menako massage, and adult and infant CPR. Food products and beverages were also prepared and exhibited by TESDA trainees. Booths were also prepared by other TVIs and scholars showcasing skills demonstrations, services, and products. E- car and Smart Bahay Kubo ni Juan were also displayed as Innovations of Technical-Vocational Institutions and TESDA Technology Centers.
Present during the caravan were Secretary General Suharto T. Mangudadatu, Deputy Director General Aniceto D. Bertiz III, TESDA Region I Director Joel M. Pilotin, TESDA La Union Provincial Director Ruth E. Dayawen, and other TESDA officials. Gracing the event were several SRDI personnel headed by Dr. Cristeta F. Gapuz, the Executive Director.
