DMMMSU’s Resource Development Unit (cum Environmental Management), together with the Institute of Environmental Studies (IES), conducted another Recycler’s Fair – Palit Basura Project at the North La Union Campus on January 23, 2024.

This initiative is in celebration of Zero Waste Month, which is in January. The celebration revolves around the theme “Sustainable Waste Management in Livable Communities”.

Recycler’s Fair – Palit Basura Project aims to promote proper solid waste management through the recovery of recyclable materials. Recyclables collected by our partner Dragon8 Junkshop are as follows:

Paper (carton, waste paper)   : 220 kg.

Plastics (various types)            : 140 kg.

Metals (tin, aluminum)             : 24 kg.

Glass bottles                             : 168 pcs.

Glass bottles (bubog)               : 36 kg.

Proper waste segregation helps recover valuable resources in the waste stream. The recovery of recyclables increases waste diversion; thus, the waste disposed of at municipal landfill facilities is reduced. (By Celso H. Jucutan)
