Students from the Institute of Criminology and Justice Education were the overall champions in the 4th Regional Criminal Justice Student Congress organized by the Council of Criminal Justice Educators Region 1 in partnership with the Professional Criminologist Association of the Philippines Region 1.
Centered around the theme of “Empowering Criminology Students, Advocating Drug Education, and Prevention”, the event was held at Urdaneta City, Pangasinan, on December 7-8, 2023.
Precious M. Purugganan received recognition as the top-performing Criminology student in Region 1 and emerged as the winner in the Extemporaneous Speech contest. Also, Katrina Paula A. Flores emerged as the champion in Research Paper Presentation and brought home the Best Presenter award.
Meanwhile, George M. Amano, Prince Gil Oliver C. Flores, and John Andrew Galedo emerged as the champions in executing handcuffing techniques. Moreover, Janela Mariano triumphed as the victor in the Laro ng Lahi Competition (Bato-Bato Pick). On the other hand, Dan Irish Palisoc was 1st Runner-up in the Criminology Got Talent Competition. Shane Alleca T. Sabado was awarded the 2nd Runner-up in the Poster Slogan contest. Also, Myrel Joy M. Abuan, Jesi James S. Soria, Dherrelyn May L. Doquilla, and Mark Daniel N. Flores, who joined in the Quiz Bee, won as the 2nd Runner-up.
