DMMMSU Open University System celebrated its 27th Foundation Anniversary Aldaw Ti Pammadayaw, on October 25, 2023.

The festivities commenced with a Thanksgiving Mass. Dr. Elsie M. Pacho, representing Dr. Jaime I. Manuel, Jr., and Dr. Ramon Torres, representing Hon. Francisco Paolo P. Ortega V, graced the occasion.

During his State of DMMMSU Open University System Address, Dr. Bernardo D. Lamadrid, DOUS Executive Director, presented the Unit’s accomplishments, including Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) for the different programs, Curriculum Enhancement, and Distance Education.

Additionally, Vice Governor Mario Eduardo C. Ortega, DOUS Alumni Association President, and Hon. Justo “Tito” Orros III shared their perspectives, enriching the event with the voices of alumni and local leadership.

The ceremony transitioned to a segment dedicated to recognizing and appreciating the invaluable contributions of various stakeholders, which include the CHED Regional Office No. 1, DepEd La Union Division Office, Cooperative Development Authority Regional Office I, Department of Information and Communications Technology Regional Office I, Department of Health Regional Office I, Department of Justice-Parole and Probation Administration, National Commission on Indigenous Peoples Regional Office I, DZAG Radyo Pilipinas Agoo, Provincial Government of La Union, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, and the City Government of San Fernando, La Union. The appreciation extended to these benefactors emphasizes the collaborative spirit crucial to DOUS’s achievements. This was strengthened by signing a Memorandum of Understanding, a symbolic gesture of continued commitment and partnership for a brighter future.

The DOUS 27th Foundation Anniversary celebration underscores the values of unity, cooperation, and shared goals central to DOUS’s success as it looks forward to another year of growth and service. (By Denise Claudia Barbadillo)
