Faculty members from DMMMSU’s College of Computer Science (SLUC) and College of Information Technology (MLUC) presented at the Data-Driven Innovation: Empowering Business Growth With AI and Analytics (DATABIA) International Conference on November 8-9, 2023. The event was conducted online and was organized by Universitas Sumatera Utara of Indonesia and Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University.

Prof. Nema Rose D. Rivera received the Best Paper Award for her work, “Predicting Autism Spectrum Disorder in Toddlers using Machine Learning,” which she co-authored with Dr. Thelma D. Palaoag from the University of Cordilleras.

Dr. Manny R. Hortizuela of the Mid La Union Campus bagged the Best Presenter for Informatics and Digital Technology Category. Dr. Hortizuela co-authored his paper titled AIRCHECK: Mapping the Air Quality of the Central Business District in the City of San Fernando, La Union using Autonomous Sensor Network with Dr. Jose Mari N. Cabading.

Meanwhile, Professors Fernan H. Mendoza and Jonathan J. Estilong shared their research findings. Prof. Mendoza’s research, titled “Sentiment Analysis of Educators and Learners on Google Classroom as an Online Learning Environment,” along with Prof. Estilong’s study, “Measuring Cyber Awareness at Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University,” were both conducted in partnership with Dr. Palaoag.

The Databia 2023 conference aims to promote data-driven innovation to empower business growth by effectively integrating artificial intelligence and analytics. The primary aim of this conference was to explore the most recent advancements in the fields of Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Business Analytics, emphasizing their potential to enhance the capabilities of enterprises across various scales. The participants were informed on advanced technologies and methodologies for acquiring, examining, and interpreting data.
