Two Grade 11 students of NLUC College of Education Laboratory High School Department won in the MB Carbonell Oratorical and Essay Contests held at Bacnotan Central School on October 14, 2023.
Trixie Joy A. Bernales secured 2nd Place in the Oratorical Contest, while Shermie Yzabel C. Pocsidio clinched 3rd Place in Essay Writing. They were coached by Ms. Elen Rose A. Padua and Ms. Elly Mar F. Abuan, respectively.
Meanwhile, Mr. James Anthony T. Ocasion, DMMMSU Student Regent, delivered the closing remarks highlighting the importance of joining a literary contest in shaping his college experience. Mr. Ocasion is an alumnus of LHS who had previously won 1st Place in Oration and 3rd Place in Essay Writing during the last contest in 2019.
The MB Carbonell Oratorical and Essay Contests is known for its yearly literary contest organized by the Carbonell clan headed by Mr. Napoleon Carbonell, Jr. The said contest was participated in by private and public high schools in Bacnotan, La Union. (By Lester E. Orpilla)
