The resident choir of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) was hailed as Champion of Language, a recognition of the group’s advocacy in developing, preserving, and utilizing the Ilocano language and the culture of La Union using choral music as a platform. 

The award was given by the Provincial Government of La Union, headed by Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Raffy” Ortega-David, and the La Union Provincial Tourism Office (LUPTO).

DMMMSU Chorale received a trophy, a Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution, and a P50,000.00 Cash Prize. It was received during the 2023 Provincial Tourism Summit held at the La Union Convention Center, City of San Fernando, on October 13, 2023.
