Agoo, La Union – DMMMSU SLUC held an orientation for its newly hired faculty members and promoted personnel at the Teacher’s Training Center yesterday, September 28, 2023.
The event aimed to familiarize the new and promoted staff with university policies and services. Dr. Joanne Rivera, Chancellor of DMMMSU SLUC, opened the orientation with an inspirational message emphasizing the importance of being an excellent public servant.
“All faculty members and personnel of our university must be public servants,” she stated. Following the chancellor’s remarks, Mrs. Cecilia Sanchez presented the university and campus officials to the attendees. This introduction aimed to establish the chain of command and acknowledge the individuals who play crucial roles in the university’s administration. Atty. Rozzane Victoria Buccat Villamin, the Director of Legal Services, discussed Legal Services and Professionalism. She provided an overview of the legal guidelines that faculty and staff should adhere to, underscoring the importance of professionalism in the workplace.
On the other hand, Ms. Jenifher De Vera addressed Human Resource (HR) concerns and policies, ensuring that new hires understand their roles, responsibilities, and the benefits they can avail.
Ms. Rima Baldemor and Prof. Jesus Rodriguez presented Quality Assurance (QA) concerns and policies. They discussed the university’s commitment to maintaining educational standards.
Academic Policies were outlined by Dr. Fauslyn Gay Amongan, Head of Instruction, and Mrs. Ma. Christina Crisostomo, Student Admission and Records. They focused on academic integrity, grading systems, and the course development process.
Prof. Melody Tumanan, President of DMMMSU SLUC Faculty Association, introduced the Faculty Association’s goals and activities, encouraging new faculty members to participate actively. Prof. Christine Ugay, the treasurer of DMMMSU SLUC FAD, explained the benefits for Faculty Association members. She reviewed the various benefits that come with being a member of the Faculty Association. Concluding the event, Prof. Jo Ann Rulla, Head of Student Affairs and Services, delineated the duties and obligations of Faculty Association members, providing a comprehensive guide to responsible conduct within the university.
