DMMMSU’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Services (DMMMSU DRRM) spearheaded a 7S Principles of Good Housekeeping training at the International Convention Center last September 5, 2023. The event was attended by delegates from DMMMSU campuses, including SRDI, NARTDI, OUS, and CA.

Facilitated by ISO Consultant/Trainer Ms. Mary Glory Caunin from JBDC Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment Consultancy, the training began with a welcome address from Dr. Antonio Ogbinar, Vice President for Administration and Quality Assurance, and a Statement of Purpose by Ms. May Ann Rose Montemayor, Technical Staff from DMMMSU DRRM.

The 7S Principles, expanding upon the traditional 5S methodology by integrating additional elements of Safety and Spirit, aimed to equip DMMMSU personnel with effective implementation skills. Participants engaged in interactive workshops, discussions, and practical exercises focused on the seven S: Sort, Straighten, Scrub/Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Safety, and Spirit. The ultimate objective of this comprehensive training is to improve efficiency, productivity, and safety across all DMMMSU campuses.

One unique component of the training was a hands-on audit in various NLUC offices, providing participants the opportunity to apply the principles in real-time settings. Mr. Randulph Navasca, Director for DMMMSU DRRM, concluded the event, acknowledging the participants’ commitment and emphasizing the training’s long-term benefits for the university.

The training is part of DMMMSU’s ongoing commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement on its campuses. (By RMV)
