Earlier today, the Mid La Union Campus spearheaded the conduct of Women with Disabilities Awareness Forum, a joint endeavor of the Offices of Administrative Services, Resource Development, and Human Resources headed by Ms. Perla A. Sotelo, Dr. Marlyn M. Amante, and Dr. Rahfie C. Nullar, respectively.
This event is in line with Proclamation No. 744 which declares the last Monday of March of every year as Women with Disabilities Day. The facilitators of the said event had for their aim to increase the participants’ awareness of the situation of women with disabilities in every aspect of their political, social, economic, and cultural life. Further, they were oriented on significant insights, laws and policies by the service learning providers.
Dr. Mark Anthony Barroso Inocencio (Disability Affairs Officer IV, CSF, LU) discussed topics on the Creation of Disability Affairs Office, Proclamation No. 744, and Issues and Concerns Faced by Women/Girls with Disabilities. While, Atty. Myra Diwata Rivera-Caroy (College of Law Professor and IBP LU Chapter Officer) talked about RA 10754 and RA 7277. Ms. Jonalyn M. Samson (Administrative Assistant, National Telecommunications Commission – RO1) delivered an inspirational Talk.
The attendees of the Forum include the members of MLUC Administrative Council, Faculty and Non-Teaching Association Officers, Student Leaders, and RAGE 1 Officers. (By Arrianne Michelle Fabro)
