“Learn and share.  I encourage all of you to share your MOOC camp experience with your colleagues, friends, and even students to inspire them to take MOOCs and participate in MOOC camps.”

This was the inspirational message of Dr. Carleen Velez of the Regional English Language Office (RELO), U.S. Embassy, Manila to the 88 completers of theMassive Open Online Course on English as a Medium of Instruction (MOOC-EMI).

The five-week course which ran from October 24 – November 27, 2022 culminated with a Celebration of Learning on March 22, 2023 at the SLUC-College of Graduate Studies.

With teacher participants hailing from the different provinces of the Ilocos Region, Benguet, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Baguio City, Isabela, Laguna, Nueva Ecija, and Indonesia, the event was conducted both onsite and online.

Addressing the completers, Dr. Velez expressed:

The MOOC on EMI made it possible to connect all of you.  I certainly hope you enjoyed your MOOC camp experience at DMMMSU.’

She also thanked the MOOC camp facilitators, Dr. Melda Uychoco, Prof. Abelynn Llarenas and Mr. Joshua Justin Lee Bautista, for facilitating the MOOC camp.

Further, in her speech, Dr. Velez expressed her gratitude to the university administration for supporting this professional development project:

‘I thank the DMMMSU administration led by Dr. Jaime I Manuel Jr. for allowing the conduct of MOOC camps in DMMMSU.’

The facilitated MOOC camps in SLUC-CGS have been running for 9 years now.  To date, the college has hosted 11 camps. (By JL Bautista)
