Two researchers of the Sericulture Research and Development Institute (SRDI) received major awards during the Southeast Asian Multidisciplinary Research Expo and Extension Conference (SEAMREEC) held at the Sorsogon State University, Sorsogon, Philippines last March 1-4, 2023.
The SEAMREEC 2023 is a national conference aimed to provide platforms for faculty, scholars, and educators to engage in the academic exchanges of scientific knowledge, innovations, and practical approaches in the fields of 1) green technology, science and technology innovations, 2) business and management, 3) education, 4) humanities and social sciences, 5) agri-fisheries and natural resources, 6) digital technology and ICT, and 7) extension projects.
Among the studies presented, the paper ‘Influence of Different Concentrations of Alpha Naphthalene Acetic Acid on Rooting of Cuttings of Three Mulberry Varieties’ garnered the Best Conference Paper award for Track 1 and the author Ms. Merlita A. Dacayanan also garnered the award, Best Oral Presenter.
For Track 7 – Extension projects, Ms. Janet D. Manuel presented the paper ‘Production and distribution of quality silkworm eggs: A strategy for seri-farmers’ productivity and local silk demand’, and garnered the Best Oral Presenter award.

With the theme Translate. Transfer. Transform. Research Practices and Extension Practices in 4.0, SEAMREEC 2023 gathered people from all regions in the Philippines for an inter/multi/transdisciplinary sharing of research and extension studies across various tracks. The event served as an array of mind-enriching talks, compelling presentations, breathtaking sights, a celebration of cultures. (by JAngayen)
