The BA Communication, BA English Language, and BS Filipino programs of the College of Arts and Sciences of DMMMSU South La Union Campus and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency- Region-1 Office (PDEA-RO1) co-hosted a communication training on January 23-24, 2023 in PDEA’s Regional Office in San Fernando, La Union. Forty (40) frontline officers as extension participants attended in the training.

As a reimagined and recalibrated extension project formed through inception meetings between DMMMSU and PDEA, Fusion 2022 aims to form new community spaces and opportunities through effective communication training.

Dr. Manilyn R. Cacanindin and Dr. Renante D. Malagayo delivered lectures on English and Filipino technical writing. Meanwhile, Dr. Ernesto C. Collo, Jr., and Ms. Joyce M. Pascua strengthened the technical and practical expertise of PDEA officers through the fundamentals of public speaking and strategic visual communication.

In a series of integrative workshops, the participants engaged in immersive conversations and presentations as their capstone projects. Both institutions have committed to cultivating more spaces to improve their community engagements for targeted stakeholders.

As its contribution to integrating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into the social fabric of every extension initiative, the Fusion Project which was birthed in 2016 continues to promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development and to build effective and accountable institutions at all levels.  (By Ernesto C.
