DMMMSU- South La Union Campus and Mid-La Union Campus have been tapped by the Local Government of Agoo to be one of the training providers for the Agoo West District Alternative Learning System (ALS) Functional Education and Livelihood Program on Food Processing NC II for ALS beneficiaries. The program was launched at the ALS Agoo West Community Learning Center, San Julian Integrated School, Agoo, La Union on February 1, 2023.
The launching program was graced by the Municipal Mayor Hon. Frank O. Sibuma together with Municipal Vice Mayor Hon. Antonio Eslao and Sangguniang Bayan members namely Hon. Ronwaldo G. Boado (Committee Chair on Agriculture and Fisheries), Hon. Mark Anthony Refugia, Hon. Mike Sambolledo, and Hon. Pricilla Komiya. Also present were PESO Head Officer Joy Aberin and Municipal Administrative Officer Marvin Rivera. Hon. Sibuma sought for unity of townspeople to achieve the goals of the LGU while Hon. Boado emphasized the importance of translating the training into an actual source of livelihood.
Mr. Ronald Bustos, Head of SLUC Extension introduced DMMMSU’s extension mandate before presenting the training staff who will serve as subject matter specialist on food processing. He presented Dr. Veronica B. Carbonell, Program Chair and Project Leader of Skills Training Initiatives in Technology for Community and Home Economics (STITCH), the BTLED banner extension program. Along with her were Mr. Gilbert Pagado, Mr. Cornelio Agno, Jr., Mr. Peter Andrew Foronda, Ms. Elena Cayabyab, Ms. Henesse Castillones, Ms. Jessica Bin-haon, and Mr. Tristan June Olarte, Extension Facilitator of the College of Education.
Meanwhile, the BSEMT Department of the Mid La Union Campus was also tapped for the Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II training. Dr. Juanito C. Corpuz, Program Chair together with the faculty trainers also graced the launching event (By Ronald Bustos).
