DMMMSU Office of the Research and Extension spearheaded a training-workshop on writing publishable papers for 32 faculty researchers with terminal reports across fields from the 6 operating units in the University. DMMMSU partnered with University of the Philippines in this academic endeavor which ran from November 17 to 19, 2022.
On the firs day, after the introductory topic Why Publish discussed by Prof. Keneth G. Bayani, experts from UPLB guided the writers in equally relevant topics.
Research Publication among Philippine HEI’s was explained by Dr. Greg T. Pawilen, UPLB Director for Office of Institutional Development in Higher Institution; and Systematic Approach in Choosing Appropriate Journal for Publication was lectured by Dr. Inero V. Ancho, also of UPLB. Coaching and writeshop followed in the afternoon.
On the second day, Writing Research Article for Publication for Qualitative Journals and Writing Quantitative Research for Publication were discussed by Dr. Christian A. Rosales, and Asst. Prof. Julie Aiza L. Mandap, respectively. Also, a writeshop followed after morning’s lectures.
On the third day, Navigating the Publication and Peer Review Process was explained by Dr. Inero V. Ancho, while Introduction to Research Methods was presented by Asst. Prof. Rowen De Guzman. Before the closing program, the trainees presented their outputs and were further coached by the experts.
This capability-building activity is part of the academic and educational cooperation between DMMMSU and UPLB. This was formally forged through a memorandum of agreement signed on October 17, 2022. (Ayu)
