Mr. Carlos A. Villanueva, Mr. Kristoffer Camille A. Cacayuran, and Prof. Emely A. Munar, faculty members of the College of Computer Science – South La Union Campus (SLUC), created an online mobile grade viewer for students, parents, and teachers. It is a one-tap application that provides excellent portability for grade inquiries.

The application, according to Mr. Villanueva, the lead developer, can access records from the Registrar’s database and can be retrieved through a web browser using a desktop computer, laptop, and mobile phones, allowing greater portability and timely grade querying. Features of the application include log-in page; account page for students, parents/ guardian, and teachers; assessment page; and view grade, and summary of grade pages.

Based on the system evaluation, end users found the application to be simple, easy to use and learn, consistent, and functional. The application is an output of the team’s research study titled “Android-Based Mobile Grade Viewer Application using PHP”. This same study was   presented by the team at the IEEE 13th International Conference on Humanoid, Nanotechnology, Information Technology, Communication and Control, Environment, and Management in 2021 (HNICEM).

The College is eyeing possible collaboration with elementary and secondary schools in La Union for possible adoption of the application which will serve as the College’s extension program. (Belinda Dungan)
