DMMMSU conducted a training-workshop on basic management with integration of relevant legislation in the establishment of a comprehensive records management program for 50 office secretaries at the International Convention Center on October 19, 2022.
Mr. Arturo C. Flores, Records Officer (MLUC), discussed Basic Records Management — Records Creation, Records Maintenance, and Records Disposition. Meanwhile, Mr. Ronan Floresca, Records Officer (OUS), explained the Data Privacy Act of 2012; Ms. Precious Angela P. Alcantara, Records Officer, (NARTDI), talked on Freedom of Information Act of 2000; and Ms. Christine Joy U. Ugay, Records Officer (SLUC) discussed National Archives of the Philippines Act.
The training aimed for the participants to 1) acquire knowledge about basic principles and strategies for records management; 2) enhance capabilities of office secretaries on basic records management with integration of relevant legislations; and 3) apply and implement in their respective offices the proper collection, storage, protection, retention, and disposal of records using ISO enrolled forms/NAP forms and following the SOP of Records Management through the ISO 90001:2015.
Designed by Ms. Remelyn V. Almodovar, University Records Officer, the training also serves as an echo of the a 3-day training/seminar-workshop on the integration of relevant legislations in the establishment of a comprehensive records management program, which she along with Campus Records Officers, attended at Golden Prince Hotel, Cebu City on August 23-25, 2022.
