Maricris E. Ulat, Julieta P. Abuan, Gemma E. Supsup, Marlyn M. Viduya, and Marybel L. Sanchez of the Sericulture Research and Development Institute (SRDI) brought home the Overall Best Paper Award during the 5th International Science, Technology, Engineering, Agri-Fisheries, and Mathematics (STEAM) Research Congress which was held in Eastern Visayas State University, Tacloban City on September 1, 2021.

Their paper titled, “Multivoltine Silkworm Lines, Bombyx mori L. in the Philippines: New Breeds for Higher Cocoon Yield”, also won the Best Paper in the Science Strand category.
Criteria used in the evaluation include technical novelty (25%), academic significance (25%), contribution to the community (25%), and quality of information (25%).
The research congress was graced by select research experts from De La Salle University, Academician Gisela Concepcion, University of the Philippines-Diliman, University of Maryland, University of Arizona, Shu-Te University, Taiwan. made the research congress truly remarkable. (Ayu)
