Fernando Reyes proved to be a cut above the rest and Jheykye Aguinoas was a gem in the rough in the Obstacle Sports event of CHED’s Friendship Game held at the Marikina Elementary School last June 4, 2022.

Reyes, a 1st year Bachelor of Physical Education student-athlete of the University, clinched the silver medal after logging 1 minute and 9 seconds, only 1 second shy of University of the Philippine’s obstacle sports contender for men.

“I trained hard for the game and I really wanted to win this one,” said Reyes, who bested the individual time trials of Pateros Technical College, Technological University of the Philippines, and of University of Makati runners.

Meanwhile, Jheykye Aguinoas, a BS Crimininology freshman registered a 2:19 record enough to grab the 5th place for the women’s category.

The duo was accompanied by their coaches Mr. Danny Bagano and Mr. James Galima of DMMMSU MLUC.

Obstacle sports is one of the world’s fastest-growing sport where competitors race to complete a course laden with a variety of obstacles to test one’s overall physical fitness including endurance, strength, and speed. The event is hoped to join the multi-sports events like SEA Games, Asian Games and the Olympics. (Zander Christopher Mercado)
