Five faculty members from the three campuses are virtually teaching in Indonesia’s Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha from March to May 2022.

Dr. Maricon C. Viduya, Dr. Rinarose B. Budeng, Dr. Maria Elaine D. Pinay-an, Dr. Manilyn R. Cacanindin and Prof. Maricris A. Gubiangan are tapped to handle classes UNDIKSHA’s English Language Study Program. These classes are Intro to Linguistics, Critical Reading, Basic English Grammar, Speaking for Academic Purposes and Paragraph Writing.

As virtual exchange lecturers, they will be immersed in the UNDISKHA’s exclusive classes and will teach assigned major topics for four meetings.

A Maga Cum Laude PhD Language Education graduate, Dr. Viduya has been teaching English courses in multi-levels (Basic Education, Tertiary Level, Graduate School) for 23 years now. She teaches linguistics, sociolinguistics, English for Specific Purposes, literature, grammar, speech, and various writing genres. She also finished several online courses sponsored by University of Maryland, University of Michigan, Boston University, and University of Oregon. She has been serving as research adviser, editor, and research evaluator in the University. She has finished a number of researches utilizing conversation analysis and discourse analysis. She also serves as Internal Quality Assurance Auditor, Accreditor in the Philippines under the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, (AACCUP) Inc., and member of DMMMSU Research and Ethics Committee. As the current University Information Officer, she writes, edits, and publishes news and features in DMMMSU website and Facebook Pages.

Meanwhile, Dr. Budeng, Magna Cum Laude graduate of PhD in Language Education, has been teaching major subjects in the English language curricula courses such as language and politics, language program and policies, multilingual societies, speech communication, curriculum development, literature, and many others. She has completed, and published a number of researches in peer-reviewed and Scopus-indexed journals. Her areas of expertise include pragmatics/interlanguage pragmatics, literature and second language acquisition.

Dr. Pinay-an, on the other hand, finished her PhD in Applied Linguistics. Dr. Pinay-an has been attending in various national and international professional development workshops and trainings. She is also affiliated to a number of professional and credible organizations in teacher education and language education.

Prof. Gubiangan remains zealous in the English language education as she is currently teaching professional education subjects in DMMMSU. She earned her Masters in International Relations. Her trainings and seminars are on Basic TESOL Training Programs, e-learning, English language and teaching, culture of research among others. She served as an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teacher to Koreans and Japanese. As a member of credible organizations, she also reviews and content edits journals and scholarly books.

Dr. Cacanindin is the OIC- Chairperson of the AB English Language program in SLUC. She formally served the University of the Cordilleras as a senior high school teacher, LMS coordinator and college instructor. As an EFL teacher, she taught English to Korean exchange students from Jeonju University and conducted one-on-one tutorials to Korean students from other universities. Currently, she teaches Organizational Communication, Creative Writing, English for Specific Purposes, Language of Literary Texts to name a few.  

UNDIKSHA has been cooperating with DMMMSU even before the pandemic. At the moment, the two institutions are exchanging students for the credit transfer program in courses such as number theory, date base and software engineering classes. Likewise, a number of UNDIKSHA and DMMMSU students are engaging in the online practice teaching program.

This year, UNSIKDHA is ready to accept students, faculty and staff in their country. It is especially interested in inviting DMMMSU lecturers to teach disciplines in the field of mathematics, languages, sciences, information technology, and education. (Jesus Rafael B. Jarata)
