The College of Education Basic Education Departments gifted books to Lacong Elementary School (LES), Lacong, San Gabriel, La Union on February 22, 2022, in support of its application for its conversion into an integrated school.
The books were handed over by Dr. Elma S. Ocampo and Prof. Joan S. Valdez, Basic Education Chairpersons together with Dr. Nora A. Oredina, College Dean, to Dr. Mary Jane L. Almoite, LES Principal.
The conversion into an integrated school of LES will help ease the burden of its Grade 6 graduates and parents in traveling almost 10 kilometers going to the nearest high school. Moreover, learners from Arosip Elementary School in Bacnotan and Lacong Elementary School-Annex will be benefited if the conversion materializes.
Dr. Almoite expressed her gratitude to DMMMSU-NLUC for granting their request for books emphasizing the significance of availability of learning materials in enhancing the quality of teaching and learning in their school.
“The books donated will help increase our learning resources which is one of the requirements for the conversion into an integrated school and we fervently pray that this dream will become a reality,” she added.
Meanwhile, Dr. Oredina assured LES that the College will provide the best it can in extending other services to LES such as conducting numeracy and reading extension programs and research capability building.
“The partnership we started today with LES, soon to be an integrated school, continues to flourish as we continue to help the school in its needs for learning resources development,” Dr. Oredina added.
Prior to this, LES received bookshelves and metal cabinets from NLUC Property Custodian on February 7, 2022. (Lester E. Orpilla)
