Twenty-three pre-service teachers were introduced to the administrators of Chonburi Technological College (CTC), Thailand during the launching of the outbound international practice teaching program of DMMMSU and CTC on January 12, 2022.
The pre-service teachers comprised of 10 fourth year students from the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) program: Rosemarie Arellano, Kyle Cedrick Diaz, Lyka Abegail Argueza, Lenny Ramos, Eunice Tayab, Rhensel Aira Pacio, Patricia Agurin, Rowena Tadios, Apol May Servito, and Junville Ayala.
Moreover, the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) program consists of 13 English majors: Clarisse Madayag, Cherry Mae Mones, Danah Jasmine Medina, Feajhay Kenneth Morales, Daniella May Tumbaga, Darleen May Juganas, Gellie Rose Sangarios, Iman Apigo, Smith Lagdaan, Myra Layugan, Airish Rapunzel Corpuz, Artcel Creslind Bersamira, and Charina Ronquillo.
These practice teachers who will undergo training via online were screened through the Office of MLUC Internationalization and Linkages headed by Dr. Mark Kristian C. Ledda, in coordination with Dr. Estella A. Cayabyab, Dr. Dyan T. Abulaban, Dr. Avelina C. Visaya, and the Program Chairs.
During the launching program, Dr. Eduardo C. Corpuz, Chancellor of the Mid La Union Campus (MLUC), represented by Dr. Maricel C. Pajimola, Campus Executive Secretary, welcomed all the participants. On the other hand, Dr. Cedric Anthony E. Ochoco, Dean of the College of Education, and Ms. Jhonilyn Q. Flores, Coordinator of CTC Foreign Language Department, introduced the members of the two universities.
Dr. Jesus Rafael B. Jarata, Director for Internationalization and Linkages, presented the overview of internship and the video profile of the University as well as the policies and guidelines for student internship abroad.
Ms. Suppawan Suwannaparn, the Head of Foreign Language (Bilingual Program), presented the different programs offered by CTC.
Meanwhile, Dr. Elsie M. Pacho, DMMMSU Vice President for Academic Affairs, extended her gratitude to DMMMSU and CTC administrators for initiating the said internship program which helps fortify educational relation and understanding between the two HEIs.
Ms. Puncharasm Tanpraphat, CTC Vice Director of Organization Deployment, welcomed and assured the practice teachers that they will gain the necessary knowledge and skills and that they will be more equipped for their teaching profession.
Dr. Alfonso S. Lopez and Dr. Vanessa P. Cayabyab, Program Chairs of BEEd and BSEd, respectively, also described their programs.
This academic endeavor is in line with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) that promote and strengthen sense of community and cooperation in various social aspects especially in education. (Jericho Q. de Leon)
