DMMMSU and Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) sealed partnership through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) at DMMMSU Central Administration Conference Hall on January 7, 2021 to enhance livelihood of women farmers in Laguna through apiculture and sericulture programs. LSPU President Mario R. Briones and his team personally visited DMMMSU for this purpose.
LSPU and DMMMSU through the National Apiculture Research, Training, and Development Institute (NARTDI) and Sericulture Research and Development Institute (SRDI) will conduct training on apiculture and sericulture as an alternative source of income of women farmers in Laguna.
“I am glad that this collaboration will now come to realization,” President Manuel expressed during his welcome message. The plan for collaboration dates back to 2018 when the same MOA was signed in but the plan was deferred due to change of administration in both Institutions.
President Manuel underscored that the collaboration is one way to strengthen the ties between DMMMSU and LSPU in promoting the sericulture and apiculture industry in the Philippines.
Meanwhile, Dr. Briones affirmed that partnership signals many wondrous beginnings as two higher education institutions forge symbolic and meaningful partnership that will lead to the attainment of the collective pursuits.
The MOA signing was witnessed by NARTDI Executive Director, Dr. Gregory B. Viste; SRDI Executive Director, Dr. Cristeta F. Gapuz; DMMMSU OIC-Vice President for Research and Extension, Dr. Angelina T. Gonzales; and LSPU Vice President for Research Development and Extension, Dr. Robert C. Agatep. (Lester E. Orpilla)
