Two DMMMSU athletes aced in the 2021 Ayala Philippines Athletics Championships held at the Athletics Bowl, Baguio City on December 16 and 17, 2021.
Fernando Reyes, freshman BS Physical Education (MLUC), produced a defiant front running victory in the face of other steeplechasers and powered his way to set his bronze-worthy steeplechase record to 11:05:80 obliterated by only 8 seconds to finish second. Meanwhile, Jaymark Balicha, sophomore BS Information Technology (MLUC), finished 8th in 200m Men.
The event is an activity of the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATHFA). This serves as an avenue to select players to represent the country in international competitions.
The two athletes, who are both medalists in Batang Pinoy, Philippine National Games, and South East Asian Youth Games, were accompanied by Dr. Paulo Jan F. Samson, Director for Sports; Mr. Danny Bagano, University Coach for Athletics; and James D. Galina, their trainer. (Ayu)
