DMMMSU Institute of Environmental Governance (IEG) spearheaded the planting of 8, 200 propagules in Barangay Santa Lucia, Aringay, La Union on December 14, 2021.

This activity aims at enhancing ecosystem services by increasing mangrove green space.

The propagules (Rhizophora species) were planted by Aringay LGU officials and staff (MAO, MDRRMO/ENRO, SB), Sta. Lucia Barangay Council, 4Ps members, personnel from the Philippine Coast Guard and Philippine National Police, Young Earthsavers’ Society (YES) members, and the IEG faculty trainers.

This initiative is part of the environmental partnership between and among DMMMSU, Tanggol Kalikasan and Aringay LGU and supported by the United States Department of the Interior (US-DOI) through the Environmental Justice Sector Reform Program 2 (EJSRP2). (CHJ)
