Joni Kay M. Mendoza, a 3rd year Bachelor of Arts in Political Science student landed 2nd place in the Online Extemporaneous Speech Competition during the 54th ASEAN Day Celebration with the theme “𝙋𝘼𝘿𝙔𝘼𝙆: 𝙈𝙤𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙, 𝘾𝙡𝙖𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙑𝙞𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙋𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙃𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙀𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘼𝙎𝙀𝘼𝙉 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮” held last August 26, 2021.

Mendoza showcased her amazing prowess in public speaking on the given topic “𝙁𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙍𝙤𝙤𝙩𝙨-𝙩𝙤-𝙍𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙚𝙨: 𝙀𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙜𝙖𝙢𝙚-𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 21𝙨𝙩 𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙮”. Each participant was tasked to deliver a 3-minute speech after a 5-minute preparation time.
The said competition was spearheaded by CHED Regional Office 1 as part of the regional celebration for the ASEAN Founding Anniversary. The competition was participated in by undergraduate students from the different Colleges and Universities of Region I.
