The South La Union Campus-Extension Services Office successfully conducted a two-day capability enhancement training-workshop called EPISODES or Extension in the Pandemic Interests, Skills, and Opportunities Development Series last September 22-23, 2021 via Zoom videoconferencing platform. A total of 90 personnel from the seven colleges of DMMMSU-SLUC turned up in the virtual training.
The training was divided into ‘episodes’. The first and second episodes titled ‘Extension Opportunities and Developing Extension Proposal During the Pandemic’ and ‘Best Practices in Conducting Extension Activities during the Pandemic’ was delivered by Prof. Charmaine P. Mendoza, Director for Community Extension and Outreach Programs Office of Saint Louis University, Baguio City. She shared SLU’s extension activities and how SLU adapts to restrictions brought about by the pandemic.
Prof. Emerita D. Galiste, director for extension of DMMMSU, spoke on the third episode, ‘Extension Thrusts, Packaging, and Evaluation Process’ while Dr. Cynthia M. Rodriguez, Vice President for Research and Extension, discussed extension proposal writing workshop on September 23.
Despite the training’s hybrid set-up and unprecedented technical difficulties, participants actively engaged in the various workshops held in Breakout Rooms. Each College was able to produce and present at least one extension proposal ready for packaging and submission by October 13 to the University Extension Office.
Aimed at identifying opportunities for extension during the pandemic and increasing submissions of new extension proposals, EPISODES is an initiative of the SLUC Extension Services Office under the headship of Mr. Ronald B. Bustos. (rbb)
