Painting is a form of creative arts and a means of coping. Kapihan sa DMMMSU guested two La Union artists, Rodel Rillera, a co-founder of Artist Guild of La Union (AGLAUN) and Cesar “Ciano” Dumo, the owner of Ciano Umok Gallery and Café. AGLAUN is a group of painters of La Union who put passion in their craft. This was founded by Dr. Nathaniel Rimando along with other co-founders, Reynaldo Niro, Ian Gomez, and Ric Ico. Since 1995, they have been exhibiting paintings. AGLAUN is an Ilocano term which means “Aglayon” or lifelong painters of La Union.

AGLAUN takes pride in producing two national winners such as Rodel Rillera and Geoffrey Sanchez. Rodel and Cesar started painting at a young age. Painting became their refuge and source of happiness which eventually became a skill and turned into a livelihood. In their hearts, they wanted to impart their painting skills and strategies to children. Allow children to paint and enjoy it as this is a very good diversion. This is also one way of managing one’s stress and of coping. Parents can invest in painting materials and expose them to the beauty of drawing.
