Environmental conservation and preservation are core issues that need to be addressed to protect the environment, battle climate change, and global warming.

Kapihan sa DMMMSU Episode 9, ‘Environmental Conservation & Agri-Tourism in La Union’, highlighted the different strategies done to address the preservation and conservation of the different wildlife and natural resources in La Union. This was explained thoroughly by Mr. Ramon Benito “Toby” Tamayo, the PGLU Consultant on Sustainable Apiculture, Agriculture and Natural Resources Development at the Lotus Valley Farm, San Juan La Union.

Mr. Tamayo stressed the need to participate in conserving the natural resources. He pushes the idea of “Grow your own Food” especially that pandemic. “Organically growing your own food is sustainable and it helps nourish the soil. This also reduces the amount of harmful chemicals polluting our environment and waterways.    

The Provincial Government of La Union conducted different activities and programs to preserve its natural resources like beach cleanups, pawikan/turtle patrols, tree planting and other environmental and sustainability focused advocacies that support the province’s overall integrated eco-farm-, forestry and fisheries-based tourism development and sustainability.
